The dealership will become part of the Hutson Team effective immediately. Originally a turf-only location, now has been awarded an Ag contract since joining the Hutson Team. By further expanding all Deere equipment categories to these northern counties, our team can leverage additional economies of scale and improve the overall value proposition for our customers.

Hutson Inc. began in 1928 as a seed and fertilizer store in Murray, KY owned and operated by Nicolas Hutson. Sixty-two years later in 1990, Hutson acquired their first John Deere dealership in Mayfield, KY followed by six more Kentucky stores in Princeton, Russellville, Morganfield, Clinton, Paducah, and Hopkinsville. In 2000 Hutson broke state lines into Clarksville, TN followed by an acquisition in 2014 into Indiana with the purchase of four stores in Poseyville, Evansville, Jasper and Newberry making it a 12-store dealership operating in three states. In May of 2021 Hutson grew once again into Michigan with the acquisition of two multi-location dealerships: Bader and Sons Co. and D&G Equipment. Hutson remains committed to growing and evolving to meet the growing needs of our customers. It is through our dedicated employees and customers that we have been able to diversify from a single location farming mercantile into one of the largest John Deere dealers in North America. Hutson Inc. is now comprised of over 800 team members proud to sell and service a wide range of John Deere equipment, including products specialized for agriculture, turf, light construction, commercial, and lawn and garden applications in 28 locations throughout Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee and Michigan.
Founded in 1976 by Jim Lappan Sr., Lappan’s started as a full-service landscape, garden center and nursery. In 1982 the business evolved into a full-scale John Deere dealership. Jim Sr. along with sons Jim and Eric through hard work and customer relationships grew and expanded into a Stihl dealer in 2009 and then a Honda dealer in 2012. with this growth and focus on the Deere product line, Lappan’s completed a 5,000 square foot showroom expansion in 2014. Customers can still get the same products and service from the same great people today that they have come to know and trust. The name on the building may be different but the dedication to the people of the Gaylord area will remain as strong as it has been for the past 46 years.
