Work is well underway for the major renovation of our Newberry, Indiana facility. Recognizing the need for both an improved experience for our customers and a more efficient work environment for our employees, Hutson made the decision in 2017 to move forward with construction. A major driving force in the decision, was the support and dedication that the area customers have shown and the commitment of the employees serving those customers.
Jasper Lumber is the general contractor for the project which is scheduled for completion in November 2018. The project is being completed in 3 sequential phases.
The first phase of the project was the large ag shop on the east side of the building. We are currently occupying that space with some limitations, while the next phase is being completed.
Phase 2 is currently underway and when completed will house additional shop space, special tool storage, parts storage and a employee breakroom.
The final phase is scheduled to begin in mid-June. After a complete gutting of the parts and showroom area, the completed storefront will house 4 sales offices, new reception area, redesigned parts counters, more parts storage, a conference room, and an attractive showroom. This portion of the project will cause some disruption to the normal flow of business, but we have made plans to keep any disruptions to our customers to a minimum. We have a temporary office space already in place which will house the sales staff and some office personnel. There will be a temporary parts counter set up in the Phase 2 portion of the shop which will allow the parts personnel easier access to the parts inventory.
